DJI Announces Two New Gimbals
Just a few days ago, DJI released its new stabilizer series. What does this mean for all of us? Well, let’s dive in and find out.

The Osmo Mobile 2 is a smartphone stabilizer that allows the average joe to create stunning videos with a cinematic look with ease. The Osmo Mobile 2 incorporates a three-axis gimbal that will cancel out any kind of jittery action in three directions. This allows your video to stay steady and smooth, even when you’re making drastic movements.
DJI didn’t stop there with this gimbal. They designed the Osmo Mobile 2’s controls to make a smartphone work like a professional camera. Incorporating settings for ISO, shutter speed, and zoom slider in the handle, anyone can control their smartphone at ease. Their battery system allows the user to film for up to 15 hours, which is three times longer than the original Osmo Mobile’s battery.

The new Ronin-S is DJI’s first single-handed stabilizer for DSLR and mirrorless camera systems. Utilizing the three-axis gimbal technology, the Ronin-S gives a cinematic look with easy-to-use controls. The gimbal gives you toggle between SmoothTrack settings, start and stop recordings, and lets you change the camera’s position to help frame a shot.
DJI has also incorporated a sports mode to allow a user to practice quick movements with tight and quick subjects following at a fast speed. This type of gimbal is perfect for any Director of Photography if they are using a DSLR like the Canon 5D, or a mirrorless camera like the Sony A7Sii.
Starting at $129 USD, you can pre-order the Osmo Mobile 2 from Apple on January 23, 2018, and will also be available at DJI stores in February. As for the Ronin-S, the price has not been announced, but will be available in the second quarter of 2018 from DJI’s website.
